Exploring 2D shapes in P2

1st Apr 2025

Our P2 class has been having great fun learning all about 2D shapes! Through hands-on activities and creative challenges, the children explored different shapes and their properties in exciting ways.

Outside, we used a giant Venn diagram to sort shapes by their features, discussing what made each shape unique. Creativity was on display as P2 used triangles, circles, ovals, squares, and rectangles to design beautiful Easter pictures.

We also got hands-on with Play-Doh, moulding different 2D shapes and exploring their sides and corners. In the ICT corner, the children played interactive shape games on iPads, reinforcing their learning through fun challenges. Finally, we sorted shapes into tables, helping us to recognise patterns and similarities.

It has been a fantastic day of learning, and we are so proud of how well the children have engaged with their shape activities!
